PlainPDF: Scanner & PDF Editor – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Smile Apps Studio ("we," "our," or "us") handles information in connection with the PlainPDF: Scanner & PDF Editor app for iPhone and iPad (the "App"). Smile Apps Studio is operated by Swaminathan L, Bengaluru, India, who is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

1. Summary

PlainPDF processes your files on your device. We don't collect, see or store your documents, photos or scans. There is no account.

2. Your Files

PDFs, scans, photos, signatures and QR codes are created and stored on your device, in the App and in the Files app, and are never uploaded to us. Saved signatures stay only on your device.

3. Permissions (iPhone and iPad)

  • Camera: used only for scanning documents and for the QR scanner.
  • Photos: used only when you pick photos to import or save images. The App only sees the photos you pick.

You can change these permissions in iOS Settings at any time.

4. Advertising (Free Version)

Ads in the free version are served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). To serve and measure ads, Google may collect:

  • Device identifiers, such as the advertising identifier, if you allow it
  • Approximate location based on your IP address
  • Ad interactions
  • Diagnostic data

On iPhone and iPad, the App asks for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your advertising identifier isn't used. Where required by law (the EEA, the UK and some US states), Google's consent form lets you choose how your data is used. You can change your choice later in the App under Settings → Privacy choices.

5. In-App Purchase (iPhone and iPad)

Payments are handled by Apple, and we never receive your payment details. The App checks your purchase with Apple on your device to unlock Pro.

6. Analytics and Crash Reporting

The App has no analytics or crash-reporting tools.

7. Data We Collect Ourselves

None. If you email us, we use your email address only to reply.

8. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your Choices

  • Tracking: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Ad consent: in the App, Settings → Privacy choices.
  • Your data: deleting the App removes all its data from your device.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its "Last updated" date.
